A keepsake for family,
a compass for care
When an older person moves into care, the people looking after them usually know about their health and medications, but little of the life that shaped who they are. WellKnown sits down with a person over a few recorded conversations and turns what they share into a written life story. The family receives a keepsake to cherish and pass down, and care staff receive a focused summary that helps them see the person behind the chart.
WellKnown was founded by Anthony (Tony) Reinhart, a journalist who has spent more than 35 years interviewing people and writing about their lives, including at The Globe and Mail and the Waterloo Region Record. He is a National Newspaper Award winner and lives in Waterloo, Ontario. He uses software he designed to help turn his interviews into stories, and he edits every one himself before a family sees it.
